Buyer protections
If a verified ticket is rejected at the gate or a train is cancelled by the carrier, you may be eligible for a full refund including platform fees. See section 4 for full details.
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the SaveMyFare website and related services (the "Platform"). By using SaveMyFare, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Who we are
SaveMyFare ("we", "us", "our") is an online marketplace enabling users to purchase discounted travel tickets from third-party sellers. SaveMyFare acts solely as a platform and intermediary — we are not a travel operator, train operating company, or ticket issuer.
2. Eligibility
You must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have legal capacity to enter into a contract
- Use the Platform for lawful purposes only
3. Nature of the service
- SaveMyFare operates a peer-to-peer marketplace facilitating the resale of unused, transferable travel tickets in accordance with National Rail Conditions of Travel (NRCoT).
- The contract for the ticket remains between the original seller and the buyer. SaveMyFare is not the ticket issuer, retailer, or carrier.
- SaveMyFare performs verification checks on listings but does not act as a train operating company or guarantee carrier acceptance.
- SaveMyFare manages payments and payouts in escrow to protect buyers and sellers in accordance with these Terms.
4. Refunds, cancellations & buyer protection
SaveMyFare operates a resale marketplace. All purchases are normally final once completed. However, SaveMyFare provides limited buyer protection in the specific scenarios below.
4.1 Change of mind & missed travel
No refunds are provided for changes of plans, missed travel, or buyer error.
4.2 Ticket rejection or invalid tickets
If a ticket listed as unused and transferable is rejected at the gate, SaveMyFare will investigate. Where our verification process has failed, the buyer may be refunded in full including platform fees.
4.3 Train cancellations by the carrier
If a train is cancelled and the journey is not taken:
- The buyer will be refunded in full, including platform fees.
- The seller is responsible for claiming any refund from the original ticket retailer.
- Seller payouts will not be released for cancelled journeys.
4.4 Platform fees on refunds
Where a refund is issued due to ticket rejection or train cancellation, SaveMyFare platform fees are also refunded to the buyer.
5. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However, due to the nature of resale and digital ticket delivery:
- The right to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations may not apply.
- Tickets are treated as time-specific digital services.
6. Fees & payments
- Prices shown include all applicable SaveMyFare platform fees unless stated otherwise.
- Payments are processed via Stripe, a third-party payment provider.
- SaveMyFare is not responsible for payment processor outages or errors.
- Seller payouts are held in escrow and released only after the scheduled journey has completed without dispute.
7. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information
- Not misuse the Platform
- Not attempt fraudulent or unlawful activity
- Comply with all ticket terms set by the original issuer
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SaveMyFare is not liable for:
- Travel disruption
- Carrier actions
- Losses arising from ticket use
SaveMyFare's total liability shall not exceed the total fees paid to SaveMyFare for the relevant transaction, except where a buyer refund is required under Section 4 of these Terms.
9. Disputes & complaints
9.1 Internal resolution
If you have a complaint, please contact us. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
9.2 Alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
If a dispute cannot be resolved, you may be entitled to use an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider in the UK. SaveMyFare is not obliged to participate in ADR but will consider it where appropriate.
9.3 Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any legal proceedings shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
